Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
