Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve last table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a massive pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players around the world. While betting on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He frequently competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total dollar value. I think tv can alter our view of the real world at times. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found gambling on net poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in big stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
