Seems like most individuals are always talking about pre-flop method, so I wanted to talk a little bit about how I play soon after the flop. Perhaps I can help others, or possibly they’ve got advice to enhance my play.
I feel that two of the most crucial plays soon after the flop are the semi-bluff and the defensive wager. That is because these are the plays you produce if you havent hit a hand except you have a very good drawing hand. Its easy to wager on a hand once you flop a monster. But I feel that these two are the best approaches to wager on a drawing. Each one is bet depending on you challenger(s) and your postion. So here’s how I wager on it, so tell me what you think.
Early Position – Tight Opponents:
A semi-bluff works fairly properly in this position. Come out gambling and if a tight player didn’t hit a hand he will most likely lay down, and if he’s unsure you may well acquire a call. Except watch out, if that tight gambler comes back over the top it may well be time to get away.
Early Position – Loose Opponents
This can be had been I like to perform a defensive wager. Choose how many chips you might be willing to risk on your draw and bet. That is usually a much lower wager than normal. It’s been my experience that the loose gambler will usually just call a bet rather than re-raise. Nonetheless, should you check to them, theyre more likely to throw in a lot more chips than your willing to pay.
Late Location – Tight Opponents
That is the best time to do a semi-bluff, particularly if most of the table checks. If that’s the case you’ll probaly pick up the pot now. If a gambler prior to has wager, you have to decide if he has a hand or not. If not, then reraise and he’ll possibly go away since he was attempting to steal the pot. In the event you believe he does, nicely then it is time to calculate your odds, and make a decision if the pot odds are worth the call.
Late Position – Loose Opponents
This one is really a bit difficult, because it’s more difficult to put a loose player on a hand. And if your in late placement against loose player, odds are they have already bet. It is had been I usually decide to take a chance and appear back over the top of them and hope they do not call, and if they do, nicely then its time to gamble. Odds are though even a loose gambler will go away when you are available back strong enough.
Don’t forget although that these are moves I only generate after the flop comes and I have a decent drawing hand (usually not a gutshot either). Maybe four to the flush or the open ended straight, for example.
